A list of things going on around here, because it is January and my fingers are too cold to type much:
- LT is napping today. After not napping for nearly a week, why today? She got a lot of sleep last night. I'll never figure it out.
- LT has been glued to MT's side since he came home on Friday. He had pretty much been gone for two weeks, and it is obvious that she missed him. I am rejoicing a little in some time without child right by my side at all times.
- I am taking the clutter by the horns around here. Or something like that. I spent Saturday cleaning and decluttering our office (primarily MT's work space) and setting up our new 2008 filing system and budget. It feels like such an accomplishment to get started. I know it is going to take time to fully declutter the other areas of my home that need it, but at least I am really truly getting started.
- MT is sick again. And I was angry at him for being sick. I know, I know, what a sympathetic wife, eh? But seriously, he was recovering from ankle and shoulder injuries/surgeries this summer, hospitalized for a freak infection, and has already had about a zillion sinus infections this winter. Get healthy dude. He is currently in bed whimpering and shivering with fever. Knowing our luck he has contracted some new virus that has not yet been seen in North America.
- We received I-171H approval on Friday for Vietnam. Finally. I have lousy fingerprints, and it took a long, long time. Not sure how useful this approval will be if/when Vietnam and the US do not renew the MOU that allows for inter-country adoptions.
- We have been shopping around for preschools, as LT will begin in the fall. This topic probably merits its own post- as in wow some people sure take this really, really seriously. No need to tell you about the father of a playmate insisting that Montessori school was the ticket to admission to an ivy league college. We are leaning towards a lovely play-based school that LT can attend two days a week, and then still go to Mandarin lessons 1-2 times a week as well.
- We have another mouse. I have used more bleach to clean with in the past few weeks than I care to admit. Forget ivy league for LT, I have killed too many of her brain cells with the bleach fumes.
- I need to start running again. Somehow 6 degree weather does not motivate me to run, but the upcoming beach vacation is highly motivating. The thought of donning a swimsuit is terrifying.
LT is still napping. Must go use some more bleach before she wakes up....
Oh congratulations on the 171-h for Vietnam. We have friends who are waiting for their Vietnam referral and word is that is shouldn't take too long.
Hmmmm..Montessori as prereq. for the ivy league...hmmm...wishful thinking, I'd guess. Liv is signed up for the Montessori program for fall but just because it seems less stressed out than some of the other uber-preschools I looked at. LT will be delightfully happy at her school, no doubt.
